SNOWCOACH TOURS – WEST YELLOWSTONE & GARDINER

Tours can be booked online, or you are welcome to make reservations over the phone by calling Yellowstone Vacation Tours directly at 406-646-9564 for tours leaving from West Yellowstone, or at 406-848-5171 for tours leaving from Gardiner. We do not currently have the capability to book tours through our hotel reservation office.

During the winter we offer round-trip Snowcoach and Snowmobile Tours to Old Faithful and Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone. During the summer months we offer Summer Bus Tours of the full Lower Loop and Upper Loop leaving from West Yellowstone. Custom tours are also available; for details, call 406-646-9564.

Expect each tour to take a full day, regardless of where you’re headed. Most tours meet and/or leave around 8:00 AM and return around 5:00 PM, but times can vary.

A Snowcoach Tour may be the best fit if you…

• Prefer the comfort of an enclosed vehicle while still experiencing Yellowstone’s winter landscape. Snowcoaches are heated, though windows are often cracked to help prevent fogging and provide the best viewing conditions, so dressing in warm layers is still recommended.

Old Faithful Tours
Our most popular winter experience, Old Faithful Tours take you to Yellowstone’s most iconic geothermal area. Watch Old Faithful erupt against a snowy backdrop, explore the Upper Geyser Basin, and experience one of the park’s most unforgettable winter landscapes.
Best for: First-time visitors, geothermal features, photography, and iconic Yellowstone experiences.

Canyon Tours
Discover the dramatic beauty of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone in winter. Along the way, you’ll experience snow-covered forests, frozen waterfalls, wildlife viewing opportunities, and spectacular overlooks of the Lower Falls.
Best for: Scenic landscapes, winter photography, waterfalls, and guests looking to experience a quieter side of Yellowstone.

Private & Custom Tours
Looking for something more personalized? Our private and custom tours allow you to create an itinerary based on your interests, whether that’s wildlife photography, geothermal features, or exploring multiple destinations with your own guide.
Best for: Families, photographers, small groups, and guests looking for a customized Yellowstone experience.

Wildlife can be seen throughout Yellowstone in winter, regardless of which tour you choose. Bison, elk, coyotes, wolves, foxes, and trumpeter swans are commonly spotted, and your guide will help maximize viewing opportunities throughout the day. While sightings are never guaranteed, winter is one of the best seasons to observe Yellowstone’s wildlife against the snowy landscape.

Snowcoaches provide an enclosed, heated ride, making them a great option for guests seeking a more relaxed experience. Because windows are often cracked to reduce fogging and improve visibility, you’ll still want to dress warmly in layers.

Snowmobile tours place you outdoors for much of the day. We provide helmets, boots, gloves, and snowsuit rentals to help keep you comfortable in Yellowstone’s winter conditions.

For many first-time winter visitors, we recommend an Old Faithful Snowcoach Tour. You’ll enjoy one of Yellowstone’s most famous destinations while learning about the park through interpretive commentary provided throughout the journey.

If you’re looking for a more adventurous experience, an Old Faithful Snowmobile Tour lets you experience the same incredible destination while driving your own snowmobile. Interpretation is provided during stops, allowing more of the journey to focus on the ride itself.
